FINAL REPORT FOR THE NWT HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT DECEMBER 2005 There were 39 participants representing 5 communities: Fort Smith, Fort Resolution, Fort Providence, Hay River and Yellowknife. It was great to see this many communities attend. First off it was wonderful to have the support of NWT Badminton. The random draws for racquets were a huge success. The shuttles were also well used. Having Cathy Macaskill helped with protocol and preparing for the Territorial Trials. We completed the Regional Trials for Juvenile and Junior boys. These boys were really tired by the time they crossed over to the High School Tournament. Sir John Franklin from Yellowknife was awarded the Peggy Curtis Grand Aggregate plaque. Most point overall went to Diamond Jenness from Hay River. Results: Pre-juvenile Girls Singles

It was great to see that the competition was so fierce in so many divisions. It was also the Jennifer and Daniel show. They are excellent players and good sports. The boys were humbled a bit on occasion! |
